About the Founder

I Built This Because
I Lived It

A few years ago, I moved to a new city for work. On paper, everything was great — a good job, a nice apartment, a city full of things to do. But inside, I was drowning in solitude.

I'd spend my evenings scrolling through my phone, watching other people's friendships unfold on screen while wishing just one person would text me to hang out. I didn't want to be alone — I just didn't know how to find my people anymore.

That experience changed me. I realized millions of people share this exact feeling — the ache of wanting connection but not knowing where to start. Velia is the thing I wished existed back then.
